Raise money for OneCareNow Campaign by normal web searches- no time/cost to you |
This OneCareNow.org grassroots campaign is the historic 365 city program to educate millions of Californians and build massive support for passage of universal healthcare(SB 840) in California. SB 840 is the one universal health care plan that responds to the needs of all the people, that controls costs and provides a comprehensive and just solution to our broken health system. On August 28, 2006 SB 840 passed both houses of the California legislature in a historic vote that affirmed Californians' right to quality, affordable healthcare. On September 22, 2006 after taking over $4 million in political donations from the insurance industry, Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed Universal Healthcare (SB 840) on the grounds that "healthcare is not a right". The Governor has come up with his own false healthcare reform with Assembly Speaker called ABX1 1, which we reject as political pork to the health insurance industry that will fail to provide everyone with quality affordable healthcare or even control costs. ABX1 1 gets in the way of SB 840 by slapping another band-aid on our broken healthcare system and allowing many politicians to avoid making some tough decisions like resisting funding from the health insurer lobby. Major non-partisan organizations like the League of Women Voters and the California Council of Churches/California Church Impact and unions such as the California Nurses Association and California School Employees Association have
rejected ABX1 1 and announced full support for SB 840, and new candidates for state and local
offices, have declared
their endorsements as well. For
more information on SB 840. OneCareNow.org grassroots campaign is sponsored by Health Care for All - California. SB 840 is supported by a coalition of over 400 groups in California. |
