Our Placentia event, Friday October 27, while in many
ways a modest event, was also definitively the Best Freeway Blogging
yet! Clipping our banner to the fence on an overpass over the northbound
57 for an hour during the slowest traffic of the week, we calculated
that approximately 10,000 motorists and passengers read our message.
And it seemed that about half of them honked and waved or put their
thumbs up. We were so close we could see them all smile. More than
once we saw a female passenger wave with her right hand and honk
her husband's horn with her left hand.

Vern Nelson and Mark Tabbert on the overpass; later they were joined
by Jane Rands.
We had so much fun we felt like doing this every day. At one point,
a Placentia motorcycle cop who drove by complimented and congratulated
us!

Here's a close-up of our banner & signs.

Afterwards, we went to Marie Callendar's and met up with some more
North-County members. We watched Don Schroeder's inspirational film
(The Healthcare Solution: California OneCare) while eating dinner,
and then made plans to get more members and supporters in the North
part of the county, and to have a much more spectacular event in
Yorba Linda in December.
