Laguna Beach

The Laguna Beach Democrats and peace protesters who in preceding weeks had promised to show up to their town's special event October 6 are a leisurely and indolent lot, and not a one of them turned out. It was left to Vern and Laura, the legendary Rosenbaums of Laguna Woods, and a few passersby who joined us (a couple of them from Venezuela, who told us a lot of interesting things pro and con about Hugo Chavez.)

Ted Rosenbaum, at the left above, has had an amazing life, having stood up to Joe McCarthy and led a student insurrection as a highschool teacher in New York -- in the 50's no less! For over a decade now he has led People for a National Health Plan; we were honored to have him come down to Laguna Beach with his wife for our little demonstration.

Happily Laguna Beach is the sort of picturesque town where even if the local Democrats are INDOLENT, there are always some wild-eyed hippies who will come by and join you for a while!

As you can see, we stayed as long as we could.
