We agreed at the last minute to do a Stanton event on Martin Luther King's Day... which basically became a demonstration outside of the legendary Stanton Indoor Swap Meet... which was OK with them as soon as they realized we were not picketing them. The bit of theater I had dreamed up fell through doubly -- the guy I knew who looked most like MLK was busy teaching sax lessons, and my brother whom I had delegated to rewrite the "I Have A Dream" speech for single-payer was so moved by re-reading that speech that he was unable to do it. But we still had a nice little demonstration, including brand-spanking-new supporters Thu-Trang Tan (a young anti-war counter-recruiter) and Dr. Henry Duke (our new beloved loose cannon, who makes ME feel stable).

Here I'm singing This Plan is Your Plan -- unfortunate how I resemble Elton John in this photo -- with Thu-Trang to my left, my son Dorian to my right, and a Laotian gentleman near Dorian.
Dorian, Vern, Thu-Trang and Dr. Henry Duke. This was the first time we met "Hank Duke", who had just returned from an internship in Alabama -- where he basically WAS "Healthcare For All Alabama." He has since become an indispensable, if always controversial, element of our chapter.

Perennial Stanton city council candidate Kevin Carr, Thu-Trang, Dorian, and three distinguished young gentlemen who passed by and felt an affinity to our cause.
