On Sunday afternoon,
December 17th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, a public meeting and community
conversation about health care and health care reform was held at
the Boys and Girls Club, 2031 Pulgas Avenue in East Palo Alto.
The meeting featured a presentation of the "The Health Care
Solution: California OneCare" followed by a general discussion
of health care insurance needs in the community.
The documentary "The Health Care Solution: California OneCare"
explained how the California Health Insurance Reliability Act
(CHIRA) would establish universal health care in California by
creating the California Health Insurance System, providing affordable
health insurance coverage with an extensive benefits package,
and controlling health care costs and improving health care outcomes.
A small but committed group attended the meeting, and arrangements
were made for additional community outreach about CHIRA to civic,
senior and mental health groups currently working in East Palo
Alto.
The meeting was sponsored and produced by Health Care for All-California
(San Francisco/Mid-Peninsula Chapter).
