San Bruno
On Thursday February 1st residents of San Bruno and environs were offered information about SB 840, the California Health Insurance Reliability Act, during public outreach at the Tanforan Shopping Mall. Members of the public perused general information about the health care crisis in California, descriptions of the Act’s main features, the results of an impartial analysis of the proposed health care solution contained in the bill, and an overview of the OneCareNow campaign on behalf of the legislation. They were also offered an opportunity to sign a petition in support of the Act. Several people commented on the need for health care reform, difficulties they had with the current system of care, and positive experiences overseas with universal health care systems in other countries. This event was co-sponsored and produced by Health Care for All - California (San Francisco/Mid-Peninsula Chapter) and the League of Women Voters of North and Central San Mateo County. For additional information, call Rich Watters (650) 856-7430.
