Before the main event, we began as is our wont, with
a demonstration on a busy street corner (Commonwealth & Harbor).
Here you see Judith Kaluzny, Jane Rands (who was a big help with
the whole event), Dr. Dave Sonneborn (a microbiologist and clean
money activist), Dr. Roger Dittman (professor emeritus of physics
at Cal State Fullerton) and anticorporate Unitarian activist Joe
Tyndall.

The League of Women Voters of North Orange County, who co-sponsored
the event, got us this great room at the Fullerton Public Library,
where a couple dozen of us watched our documentary "The Healthcare
Solution", preceded by the Austin Lounge Lizards' humorous
animated video "Pirates of the Healthcarribean", and followed
by Joe Tyndall's pugnacious new powerpoint presentation which puts
the healthcare crisis into the larger context of people-versus-corporations.

Professor Dittman then gave a fascinating talk about other ways
our healthcare system needs to be reformed and improved.
We spent, as usual, half an hour sitting around answering questions
and plotting about what each person in the room could do to help
make single-payer a reality. Some of the League women are planning
to purchase the video and have house parties themselves for SB 840.
Here are some of us signing the petition and getting literature.
fterwards, Vern, Joe, Dr. Sonneborn, Dr. Dittman, and the young
Democratic activist Carl Weibel went to legendary Fullerton hangout
"The Olde Shippe" and talked over European beers long
into the night, even missing Jon Stewart.
