Shown above: Peter Conn, Carole Marks, Bob Bronfen. The Board of Supervisors meeting was held in Santa Maria. Speakers during the Public Comment Period asking the Board of Supervisors to endorse SB 840 were Bob Bronfen for ACLU, Carole Marks for LWV, and Peter Conn for HCA, and Maggie Gold, as an individual in Santa Barbara. In Santa Maria, Ron Faas of the Democratic Service Club, Vibiana Sevedra, and George Dailey, the Dem. Club’s Legislative Chair spoke in favor of SB 840. The meeting room was packed, many standing, due to the decision about the Alzheimer's unit, so it was a great day to make our statement. There were about nine from the Democratic Club and/or Santa Maria Community Coalition, all with OneCareNOW buttons and held bumper stickers. The Board, in part in response to Maggie Gold asking why there wasn't more time devoted to this important subject, agreed to put a health care reform legislation discussion on the agenda for late summer to early fall. This was a great communication and cooperation effort with HCA and allies in north and south county.

the concepts contained in SB 840.
