On Saturday evening, July 14th health care activists distributed petition mail-in cards in support of SB 840 at showings of the Michael Moore film “SiCKO” at the Century 20 in Daly City.

The Century 20 multiplex theater proved a fertile ground for health care advocacy, with two screenings drawing large audiences interested in health care reform and the single-payer solution.

Volunteers from Consumer Federation of California (CFC), California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA), Health Care for All California (HCA) and the public spoke to theater patrons as they waited to purchase tickets and as they exited showings of the movie.

Many of the movie viewers expressed support for the single payer solution, and some even took additional petition cards for distribution to their own friends.

The activity was organized by the Consumer Federation of California and sponsored by CFC and HCA. Petition cards were provided by the California School Employees Association (CSEA).
