The Health Care for All Cafe in Ramona
Wednesday night (August 30) was an artistic and culinary delight.
Two
Ramona musicians entertained the crowd, Frank Lucio on saxophone
and José Smith alternating between harp, guitar, and accordion. Their big hit was a bossa nova tune José had written for the occasion,
"Health Care for All."
(Lyrics are attached.)
Two
local poets, Ramona school board member Dante Cosentino and Bruce
Meador, read health-related poems they had written.
The
audience also was treated to an array of homemade gourmet pastries,
along with fresh fruit, lemonade and coffee.
A
highlight of the evening was a showing of the new OneCareNow video,
which prompted a lively discussion afterwards. Between musical sets,
the audience also heard brief commentaries on SB 840 and the OneCareNow
campaign from Health Care for All-San Diego co-director Susan Duerksen,
Kathy Rallings of the California Teachers Association, and Mark
Hanson, a state Senate candidate who has endorsed SB 840.
The
audience left thoroughly entertained and educated, and many signed
up to join in the campaign and help educate others!
