"Life, liberty and the pursuit of healthiness"
Health Care for All - Nevada County, received 3rd Place Award for
its colorful entry in Nevada City's traditional Constitution Day
Parade held on Sunday, September 10.. ( Our connection with the
Constitution? 'Life, liberty and the pursuit of healthiness!')
Our entry was led by two people holding the 8'
"OneCareNow" banner, followed by a 1953 VW
pickup toting a coffin which held an occasionally emerging and howling
white body - all of which, with signs of course, representing the
dying health care system on its way out.
Next
came a contingent of sign carriers calling for just and compassionate
health care for all and singing Marin's "This Plan is Your
Plan!" The final element followed - a 12' tall puppet bearing
a "Universal Health Care" banner.
Over 70 groups entered the parade and ours was comprised of 30
lively health insurance reform advocates. An estimated 2000 people
attended the parade.
