The OneCareNow Fairfax Rally and March for Universal Health Care
took part in Peri Park at 5:30 PM. Fairfax had not only endorsed
SB 840 but declared Sept. 21 Single Payer Day, which made the
town park ours for the evening. We were honored to have HCA executive
director Andrew McGuire speak, as did Fairfaxians David Glick
(chief organizer) and Jennifer Rienks (candidate for Healthcare
District Board), HCA-Marin director Esther Wanning, Mel Rosen,
MD, and Town Councilman Lew Tremaine. Marin co-director Greg Brockbank
moderated.
The rally was followed by a march throughout Fairfax while singing
our signature song, "This Plan is Your Plan, This Plan Is
My Plan," with accompaniment by the song's re-author and
accordionist Ellen Karel and drummer Joanie Levinsohn. Many honks
and thumbs-up greeted the marchers, and many signatures were added
to the OneCareNow petition.
