The Solvang Farmers' Market attracts locals as well
as tourists, many of whom stopped at the OneCareNow booth to sign
petitions, tell their health care story, and fill out cards to be
sent to the Governor urging him to sign SB 840.

Fiddle Bird, an HCA member who lives in the neighboring town of
Buellton, went from vendor to vendor,
explaining SB 840, getting petition signatures and distributing
fliers. Conversations and stories only confirmed the growing need
and support for a single payer health insurance system. . . . A
gentleman who grew up in Austria said he could not understand how
the Governor could think that the Austrian universal health system
was bad. . . . A woman told us her grown kids could not afford insurance
or get jobs which offered insurance. . . . A Republican from Lompoc
went on at length about why we need to enact SB 840. . . . And a
man who used to own a home and his own business said he lost it
all after undergoing needed surgery.
The Farmers' Market was a perfect venue to reach a broad audience
with information about SB 840 and to hear from others about their
health insurance needs and interest in doing something to change
the current system. |
