Step 3: INVITE YOUR GUESTS
You are the one who determines your guest list—how many people
you want to invite and who they are. Your colleagues, family, and friends
will appreciate the opportunity to help remedy our broken health care
system and give to something they really believe in. (As with all parties,
not everyone will be able to come, so keep that in mind as you put your
list together.)
The List: In order to make your invitee list as large
as possible, start thinking about the things you do every day, every
week, every month, and the people you see and the places you go, such
as:
- churches, synagogues, mosques
- professional groups
- community-based organizations and associations
- clubs and organizations
- yoga and educational classes
- schools, dorms, fraternities, sororities
- former and current classmates
- family, friends, co-workers and colleagues
- your own doctor and dentist
- other medical professionals of your acquaintance
- community activists & organizers
- that grocery clerk you chat with about headline news
- old friends and co-workers you haven’t seen in a while
Invitations: You can design your own invitation or
use one of our model
invitations that you can adapt for your party, and send by e-mail
or snail mail. Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
- Wording (you’ll need to say that the party is a fund raiser
for the OneCareNow Campaign).
- RSVP date (about 10 days prior to the event).
- Method for sending (you may choose to call, send personalized hand
written invitations or more formal invitations by snail mail, or send
an e-mail).
- Deadline for sending (at least three weeks prior to the event).
RSVPs & Follow-up: Be sure to track your
RSVPs. Make follow-up phone calls or send follow-up e-mails 10 ten days
before your party, both to people you haven’t heard from and those
who’ve responded (as reminders). If you’re hosting a public
party, reminders can be sent through the house party web site.
