FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Joan Holtzman "Wake Up" for Health Care Reform in Mill Valley on October 15 On Sunday, October 15 at 2 PM in the Mill Valley town plaza, the Marin chapter of Health Care for All-CA will hold a “Health Care Wake-Up and March” to educate the public and demonstrate support for a single, publicly funded health-insurance program covering all Californians. It will be an opportunity to see how such a plan would fix the inherent problems in the current health-care system and to call on all elected officials to work towards this solution. Jared Huffman, Democratic candidate for Assembly, and Susan Adams, Marin County Supervisor, will be featured speakers, along with Larry Rose, MD and Essie Blau, RN, both of Mill Valley, and others. Mill Valley’s Dave Fromer will provide musical entertainment, and theatrics will follow. The event will be followed by a march throughout town with accordionist Ellen Karel and drummer Joanie Levinsohn. This event marks Day 55 in OneCareNow’s historic 365 day/365 city program to build mass support for health-care reform. Governor Schwarzenegger recently vetoed SB 840, the bill to establish universal public health insurance, but it will be reintroduced by Sen. Sheila Kuehl in January 2007.
