Healthcare Reform – Under Construction by Gary Gray

Everyone agrees our health insurance system is in crisis in California. A public health insurance pool has “a chance” leaders of a grassroots statewide movement toward universal healthcare told a small group at China Alley’s China Café Friday during a Hanford town meeting.

Statewide school employees, teachers, nurses, patients and physicians working in communities statewide are conducing daily grassroots educational forums to move forward a public health insurance pool solution that will clean up California’s health insurance mess.

Multiple studies corroborate that simplifying health care administration can save as much as $20 billion (greater than 10%) a year. Pooled purchasing discounts for drugs and medical equipment can save an additional $5 billion per year. Stakeholder savings spread over 10 years $343 billion. (California’s Lewin Report April 2004)

Studies show 8 of out 10 Californians want a public health insurance pool. When asked why healthcare costs are increasing the majority pointed to excessive insurance company profits, followed by waste, fraud and inefficiency (California Wellness Foundation).

The solution – California’s Universal Healthcare Act. SB 840 submitted by Senator Kuehl, allows you to choose your own doctor(s) for a comprehensive care plan. Everyone will pay affordable premiums and contribute their fair share.

“Full care, for all, for life, for less”. No out-of-pocket costs for deductibles, and no exclusions for pre-existing conditions. For more information how you can get involved, Watch Video Solution or find the next stop on this historic statewide grassroots campaign go to www.onecarenow.org.
