Subject: Talking With America for Sunday, June 3, 9:05 AM

KIST Radio

Talking With America, hosted by Nick Beeson and with him, Mike Kemp, will open this Sunday's program with an interview with Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Robert Kennedy's eldest daughter.  She will be discussing her book, Failing America's Faithful: How Today's Churches Are Mixing God with Politics and Losing Their Way.  Ms. Townsend is the former Lt. Gov. of Maryland, is active in Democratic politics and strongly believes in the separation of church and state.  She is an incredibly dedicated and positive person. http://www.hachettebookgroupusa.com/books/3/0446577154/index.html

There is an extremely interesting event at the Goleta Valley Community Center between 2:00 and 5:30 this Sunday.  The California Democratic Party is hosting a Regional Summit with the complete spectrum of local faith leaders to get a sense of what they believe their constituencies want from their political leaders.  Congresswoman Capps, CDP Chair Art Torres, Mayor Marty Blum, Mayor Jean Blois and others will be there to exchange, listen and learn.  We've invited the keynote speaker of the Summit, Rev. William Calderwood from Aqueous Church in Isla Vista, to give us a brief preview.  SBSummit@gmail.com, or 949 533 7380.

If time permits, Nick and Mike will offer their Best Editorials of the Week.

We will close the first hour with an interview with Judy Dugan discussing the latest information on oil companies and the fact that we now have the highest gas prices on record for the United States.  Certainly in our area we do.  Ms. Dugan is Research Director for the Foundation for Taxpayer & Consumer Rights and is an expert in the field.  www.consumerwatchdog.org

The 10:00 o'clock hour will be devoted to Health Care, starting with members of Health Care for All (HCA) activists, Peter and Paulina Conn.  There is a march and rally on June 7th that two dozen advocacy, faith, social justice and labor organizations will participate in to express their support for universal health care for all Californians.  It's starts at de la Guerra Plaza at 5:00 PM on June 7th.  http://www.healthcareforall.org/blog/index.php?s=May+2007

Former California Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson joins as a health care advocate for State Senator Keuhl's bill, SB-840, a single-payer universal health care bill that will cover every Californian and cost less than the current care if passed. (Eliminate up to 30% administrative overhead the insurance companies tack on for themselves and it's not difficult.)  Both houses of the California legislature passed the bill last year but the governor vetoed it.  Hannah-Beth will explain the bill so we all know what the governor has prevented us from having.  Sen. Keuhl: http://dist23.casen.govoffice.com/.  Hannah-Beth's Speak Out California: http://speakoutca.org/weblog/

Our final guest is Barbara Williams, a member of the California Nurses Association and a health care spokeswoman for CNA.  She has been a nurse all her life and believes that universal health care is long overdue and is now working on our behalf to see that it happens.  www.calnurse.org/

We encourage you to call us at 879 5478 if you have updated information on anything we're discussing or want to express an opinion on any of the topics.  Talking With America broadcasts live on Sundays, from 9:05 to 11:00 AM, over KIST-AM, 1340.

For taxes being spent on health care and life affirming projects rather than murderous wars and destruction, we remain,

for the positive end of existence,  Edward and the TWA Team
