People Marching in the streets for Health Care

Fresno Bee - Letter to Editor

February 11, 2007

Dear Fresno Bee,

You won’t see people marching in the street to support the governor’s health care plan. Forcing people to buy health insurance that doesn’t cover much, at high, private insurance prices, is not a plan that stirs passion.

You will see people marching for Senate Bill 840, which will provide good health insurance for every resident of California, and save our state about $8 billion per year! Watch for hundreds marching in Madera next Friday and Saturday. Look out for Merced on May 1 and Clovis on May 9. Watch for thousands in Fresno on August 6.

We are Health Care for All and we are a movement growing fast. We have support from workers, nurses, teachers, churches, many doctors and hospitals, many businesses, and many more people.

SB840 is close to passing. A majority of state legislators has already voted for it. With just a few more legislator votes and the governor’s signature, we could finally have a system that will actually solve the problems of our health system.

This is a contest between people power and the money power of private insurance and drug companies.

Watch for us. Join us. We are marching.

Devin Carroll
