tips for healthy facial skinDo you admire people who always seem to keep their skin looking fresh, radiant, and free of blemishes? While some people do seem to be born with better skin than others, environment is a huge factor. The sun, lifestyle, and dryness are major factors. Without care, the best skin will succumb to these factors over time.

Good Tips To Keep Facial Skin Healthy

These are some tips that should help most people improve their skin:

1. Limit really hot showers

Some people love hot showers, so this might be the hardest tip to follow. However, really hot water dries the skin. If you can’t give up on steamy baths or showers, be sure to follow up your bathing routine with a good moisturizer. Also, use a moisturizing soap. Just be aware that really hot water will rob your skin of vital oils, so you need to replace them.

2. Use a natural moisturizer

Some so-called moisturizers have lots of chemicals. In the end, they might actually do more harm than good. Natural oils are a much better choice, and some effective ones are coconut, almond, and even olive oil.

Simply apply these liberally to the face before bed time. Coconut oil is a favorite because it has a nice scent. Because its chemical makeup is actually close to natural body oils, the skin absorbs it readily. Very quickly, facial skin should feel soft and not overly greasy.

3. Use a humidifier in dry areas at night

Do you wake up in the morning with your skin feeling very dry. This might happen a lot in the winter when you run the heater, but in some climates, it can happen all year around. If you wake up feeling dry and itchy, there is a good solution. You can purchase a small humidifier to run in your bedroom all night. You should wake up feeling refreshed, and for some people, it also helps with breathing.

4. Keep beauty products simple

Some people have very sensitive skin, so normal beauty products seem to do more harm than good. Typically, any product with artificial fragrances or colors is one a product to stay away from. Look for products that are produced from natural products, and you will find that you don’t have to use as much of them.

5. Sleep with a moisturizing mask

Did you know that people who are in the business of modeling their feet and hands actually sleep with socks and gloves on? The slather on moisturizer and use the socks and gloves to keep moisturizer on their hands. You can also purchase light masks that can help do the same thing with your face. That way, the natural oils you use won’t all rub off on the pillow but will stay on your face to get absorbed and do some good!

6. Make your own skin toner

This is a handy recipe you can use to produce your own skin toner that will leave your skin feeling refreshed. To create it, you need:

1. Sage
2. Peppermint
3. Witch Hazel

The sage controls excess oil, but you might not want to use it if your skin is very dry. Peppermint simply gives your skin a refreshing tingle. Witch hazel will help restore and nourish the protective layer of your skin. This is the recipe for this DIY skin toner:

Blend together 1 teaspoon each of sage and peppermint with 4 ounces of witch hazel. Steep these together for a day or two before using the mix. You can keep it in your fridge and set a little out to warm up to room temperature before you use it.

7. Protect your skin all day

If you plan to be outside, use sun block. Some makeup already contains sun block, so this could be a convenient choice. Also apply a light coat of moisturizer under your skin or use moisturizing makeup. This actually helps makeup spread more evenly, so it should help your beauty regimen.

If you do get a sunburn, be sure to use an after-sun remedy. Aloe Vera gel is a very good solution for this, and the sap from this plan can help keep burnt skin from peeling.
