70%* of Californians want a single payer health insurance system to fix our health care crisis.

Here’s what you can do to make it happen
this year!

The OneCareNow Campaign for SB 840 legislation kicked off on August 12, 2006 with an event each day for 365 days, each in a different California city.

This historic grassroots campaign was achieved by Health Care For All—California and coalition partners and supporters like you.

In over 365 cities, we kindled small prairie fires of understanding and enthusiasm for permanent change to our crumbling health care system.  Those 365 events in over 365 cities stoked a firestorm of public demand for the only reform that will work for all of us. That reform: a single-payer health care system.

Grassroots pressure for legislative action will bring the change we need and we have a strategy and a plan that could make it happen this year.

A recent “State Strategy Summit” in Los Angeles by coalition partners announced a coordinated Action Plan for 2008.

Here’s what we (and you) will do in the weeks and months ahead. Get on board now and help us make history, and, yes, health care for all California.

1. Endorsement and Outreach Campaign Committee.  In 365 California cities, we’re mobilizing volunteers to persuade county supervisors, city councils, school boards and businesses to endorse SB 850.  The clincher? We have direct cost comparisons of current health insurance costs with projected costs under SB 840. Click here to join this important effort in your area.

2. Multi Media Truth Squad Campaign Committee. Join our new statewide network of letter writers and media contacts for the 2008 Campaign. Click here to join this busy group.

3. Statewide 2/3rd’s Campaign Committee. You will help us convert voters into supporters of SB 840 in selected voting districts to help us achieve a “Super-Majority” vote for SB 840 this Summer. This activity will be confined to the five or six voting districts but volunteers from all over the state can click here to get involved and get active.

4. HCA Fund Raising and House Party Committee. You’ll be helping with the coordination of fund raising and House Parties activities in your area. You’ll also be seeking new volunteers and major donors to help pay for organizing, web site tools, literature and tabling materials for this critical health reform campaign. Complete House Party tools are here. Join this essential committee in your area here.  And, oh yes, don’t hesitate to donate here.

5. SB 840 Speaker’s Bureau Committee. Expand our speaker’s network by coordinating talks and/or delivering speeches to organizations or house parties in your area using our 22 minute DVD, the Health Care Solution.
Volunteer here for this important and fun task force.

There’s even more you can do in your local HCA-CA chapter. Your help will be greatly appreciated and likely require less than five hours per month.
